This tutorial comes with all the scene files and textures. Every part has been subtitled (the subtitles are optional).
Welcome to this new SimplyMaya tutorial where we cover the processes of texturing, lighting and rendering to produce the final image of our scene. Photoshop is used during the texturing phase and during post-processing to make some final ajustments. We learn how to use Hypershade and The UV Texture Editor to apply textures to our models, as well as how to add lighting and render the scene with Mental Ray and Final Gather.
Tutorial Outline:
- Create textures in Photoshop and import them into Maya
-
Learn how to use Hypershade and The UV Texture Editor during the texturing process
- Experiment with different Paint Effects brushes to create foliage
- Application of different light types in Maya - point lights, spot lights and area lights
- Control of light intensity, color and decay rate
- Light linking
-
Use of Mental Ray and Final Gather
- Post-processing of the final rendered image in Photoshop
Part Summary:
Part 09 - We create the shaders for the dining table, benches, floor and glass bowl.
Part 10 - We texture the stairs and the sourounding area.
Part 11 - The bed area is textured.
Part 12 - The texture for the tree stumps is created in Photoshop and imported into Maya. In the dining area we add spotlights.
Part 13 - The foliage is created using paint effects and converted to polygons. During this process we experiment with different brushes.
Part 14 - Lighting for the scene is created. We add area lights to simulate daylight and link them to a light multiplier in order to control multiple lights using one attribute.
Part 15 - Final adjustments are made to the lights. We add Final Gather to our scene and tweak the values to achieve a good looking final rendered image.
Part 16 - Post-processing of the final render in Photoshop. The Modeling tutorial can be found here |
